Major projects have involved various approaches to stakeholder consultations including preparation and presentations by written educational materials, face-to-face and telephone interviews with key informants and focus groups and CPD presentations. For example, in several successful major projects, I have been required to conduct effective consultations directly with professional stakeholders e.g.:
-
GPs and specialist medical practitioners concerning clinical risk management programs;
-
Presenting in practice to ophthalmologists in presentations regarding glaucoma diagnosis and management;
-
Informing GPs and surgeon opinion leaders regarding the DATIS PSA Trial,
-
Involving key nephrologists and primary health care practitioners in the Central Australian Renal disease project,
-
Communication with most medical specialist Colleges regarding AIMS.
At a policy level, Richard demonstrates an ability to provide considered and well-informed advice concerning complex and sensitive issues e.g. quality of health care, and indigenous health issues. He is also aware of the requirement in some areas of health service delivery to achieve cultural changes in order to improve practice effectiveness in the face of diverse contexts such as rapidly changing technical capacities, economic constraint, and an ageing population.
